UPDATE, JUNE 4: Residents were given 30-day eviction notice last month. Eviction day is supposed to be on 11th June. Come for a press conference to see the residents’ side of the story – June 6th (Saturday), 2pm, at Kampung Buah Pala, Bukit Gelugor. Is this the next Kampung Berembang?

I took these photos at the Ponggal festival at Kg Buah Pala, Bukit Gelugor, Penang. Ponggal at Kg Buah Pala was bigger this year to celebrate their heritage as its residents fight a court case against developers who are trying to evict them and demolish their houses. The Star has also reported the event.

This was done using a photo I took at the Sungai Buloh Leprosy Centre last year.

I was browsing through some Photoshop files from one of my old hard drives and this turned up on one of them. I like the accidental, retro look. I wish all error messages were this interesting.

Three of my websites just got featured in Sireh & Cengkeh, a Malaysian online magazine about art, technology and other cool stuff in an article called 36 beautifully design Malaysian websites. Those three websites are the Freedom Film Fest, Streething and Indiegoat. Thanks for the recognition!

I’ve kept this blog since I started this website in 2004. It’s been a favourite place for me to purge my thoughts, post random bits of artwork and photography and mention interesting stuff I find online.

It’s now 2009, and while looking through my old articles recently, I realised that I disagree with many of my old articles, especially the philosophical and political ones. An is an article I wrote a long time ago when I had less liberal views about religion.

I’ve decided to bury all of my old articles and photos and start from fresh. Goodbye to the past and hello to the present.
